Frequently Asked Questions

What should I wear?

Really it is personal preference, remember that you’re here to show off all that hard work so wear something you feel confident in. Vests are a great choice for arm shots, but I always recommend bringing multiple outfits so we can get different shots. You also do not need to go out and spend a fortune on clothing, the focus should be on you!

Do I need a tan?
Having a tan is an essential, the bright flashes and lights will blow out your skin tone. This applies more so to body builders, so you may want to see a professional fitness tanner before your shoot.
Nervous/ first time ?
It’s a relaxed and private environment so there is no need to be nervous! Be excited about your shoot and get 100% into it, this really shows on in your images, confidence is key. Remember that it’s a fun experience and we can discuss what it is you want to get out of the session before we begin. I will have many ideas and suggestions but please don’t hold back from suggesting the shots that YOU want to try.
Should I Practice posing ?
Yes! It’s very important that you know how to contract your muscles yourself. You should practice in front of a mirror to see how you can best show off your greatest assets.
How can I make sure my skin looks good?
A few good nights of sleep is important to ensure your not looking tired or run down, for your body many people like to use an oil to create that look of glowing skin and really bring out every muscle. I do suggest If you have facial hair, just made sure its neat, clean and tidy. This really improves the overall look of a photograph. Remember I will do skin re-touching while editing your photographs, so if you have any specific concerns please let me know.
Do I need professional makeup/ hair?
No, you do not ned to get this professionally done for your shoot unless it is something that you want. Doing your own hair and makeup in the way you feel most confident is what’s important. Natural makeup without harsh lines is always better for a photoshoot as it helps your skin look fresh and healthy in front of the camera.
How long will my shoot last ?
A shoot can last from between 1 and 2 hours, depending on how long it takes for us to achieve your desired shots.
How should I prep before my shoot ?
You want to make sure you’re in top condition before your shoot, drink plenty of water and get enough rest. However do not change things drastically in a last minute panic, stay consistent.
Should I workout before my shoot?
No, I have plenty of gym equipment available in my studio to allow you to get a pump 10-15 minutes before we begin shooting, the reason to avoid a full workout before coming to the studio, is that during our session you will be using plenty of energy on the machines, flexing your muscles and in some cases just doing your workout while I photograph you. You don’t want to be knackered half way through.
What should I eat before the shoot ?
Go for moderate-fibre carbohydrates, along with some lean protein and healthy fats, something along the lines of 20-30g of protein.
Can I bring my friends ?
Yes feel free to bring along friends or family, it may make you feel more comfortable and give you a confidence boost which will definitely show in your photos.
Can I have friends take BTS?
You’re more than welcome to vlog, photograph and video your session in the studio during your shoot.
Can I have a closed shoot?
Yes, that is what my studio is perfect for and what makes it so unique. As well as a classic studio backdrop I have an entire gym set up in a completely private studio so there is no need to be nervous in front of others in a public gym.
